Final Project

For my final project, I'm very interested in using the process of Polaroid emulsion transfers on rocks.  So I think I'm going to experiment with the various themes that i can play with combining rocks and pictures.  Then i will go full fledged into a full blown set of images on rocks.

Things that i will keep in mind:
Different types of rocks - cement, bricks, smoothed rocks, rocks that can be bought at the store
Type of image - portrait, landscapes, abstract

Animal Masks

these are two photos from my third project.  I think that my research helped alot for these photos.  I really enjoyed the way these pictures came out.

Third Project Research

For my third project, i researched some myths and folk tales about animals.  In mythology there is a lot of splicing animal heads and parts to human bodies. Humans seemed to idolize certain animals or their parts.  It was an interesting relationship that worked its way into my third project.

African Animal Folklore

One thing that I'm finding to be really fascinating is why stories about animals.  Here's a link to Rudyard Kiplings Just-So Stories which are stories meant to explain fantastic things in nature.

So here's the link:

Second Project

this was a sketch up of my poster design for my yeti crab claw.

And above is the final design.  The final poster was done as a 3 color reduction print using linoleum and water soluble ink.

Beginning Project 2

For my Second Project, I did a little bit of research on weird animals and came upon the unusual yeti crab.

I decided my hypothetical product would be a metal claw that was detachable from a persons arm.  Kind of an extension for the arm.  As an advertising approach, I looked at the 60s aesthetic for posters.

Not Really Any Animals

A video made with a set of polaroids that i bought from an antique shop.  My first project for my Research Studio class.  These are some still images.
